Professional Development Workshop for Artists PDF Print E-mail
This tax workshop for performing and visual artists was a first time offering from the Arts Council and was offered due to high interest from area artists. The workshop covered tax questions and issues for visual and performing artists including:
• general income tax structure
• record keeping
• income
• expenses
• taxes (income, sales tax, etc.)

The presenters included Julie Herwitt, CPA, visiting from Chicago. Ms. Herwitt offers annual tax workshops for Chicago area artists via the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Artist Coalition. Lara Schmutte, an Indianapolis CPA also presented. Ms. Schmutte works with many of Indy's performing arts groups on their taxes and is well aware of the specific needs of performers.
